When Serena Van Der Woodsen returns to town after a stint at boarding school, her friend Blair is just as surprised as everyone else. Tensions flare between the two girls, and the drama spreads to include members of their clique, including Serena's brother, Eric, Blair's boyfriend, Nate, and middle-class siblings Dan and Jenny.
